Newborn Session Prep Guide
Read below for some considerations as you prepare for your lifestyle session. I am so excited to work with you and your family. This will be such a fun session! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Before the Session:
Have baby fed just before session, unless mom would like some breastfeeding pictures. In that case, feeding baby will be part of the session.
Have your home presentable. It does not need to be cleaned perfectly, but picked up and tidy for the session. Rooms we will typically shoot in are the nursery, parent’s bedroom, living room and kitchen.
For siblings, limit screen time before the session. It can sometimes be difficult to take an electronic away from children.
During the Session:
We will photograph in the best lit areas of the house. We really do need a sunny day, so if there is overcast, we will need to reschedule.
I may move small furniture around, open blinds, etc.
If baby needs to eat during session, we will stop to allow baby to be fed.
Wardrobe
For baby, a simple onesie or footie are preferred. Even just a cute set of bloomers or a diaper are nice and simple. A simple swaddle is also always a good option as well. Simple is best so the baby itself is the focus.
Keep it light and bright! Stay away from logos, character shirts, or shirts with wording. Pinks and blues photography really beautiful.
No big logos on clothing.
For girl siblings, make sure they have bloomers or shorts on under dresses or skirts.
Mom, dress comfortably, and in something that makes you beautiful and can move around in easily in. A flowey dress can be really beautiful, feminine, and flattering. Colors to stay away from are red and black.
Make sure chipped nail polish is fixed.
For siblings, remove any temporary tattoos.
Don’t worry about shoes, barefoot works best.
